What does it mean to be still? Is it to just be motionless? Well, yes. But also, turn off the TV and music, and stop the busy-ness, maybe remove myself from the normal space I’m in and go to what the Bible figuratively calls my prayer closet, and find a non-interrupted space to just be still.
I let everything else around me be silenced, especially my mind and senses. Let all other routines and inputs fly on by without sidetracking. Life goes on without me. I can spare a moment, maybe not a day or even an hour, but at least start with a moment.
I tell myself, “I can do moments!”
Later, I develop lengthier times of stillness, and even a nature of stillness.
Consider a time to start…like now.
