Churches are mobilizing to come to the aid of residents of Flagler estates this weekend, Oct. 13-16. The St. Johns Sheriff’s Office reports flooding was widespread in Flagler Estates. Local residents and members of Mt. Olive Baptist Church (2 miles from the site) say Flagler Estates has grown to 10,000 acres. The area is essentially low lying area and swamp land that was covered by 5’ of water in some places from the swollen St. Johns River. Most homes are modular or trailers with particle board floors. Many of the fallen trees blocking roads and in front yards have been cut and stacked at the street however, there is still a great need.
