Bible Text: 1 Corinthians 13 | Preacher: David Ball | Series: Trinitytide 2019 | Love and jealousy tend to go hand in hand. To really love someone means to care deeply for their affections. When that affection is threatened in any way the pain and loss we feel is what we call jealousy. While jealousy is a natural part of love, it can also be destructive to our lives and the lives of those we love. In 1 Corinthians 14:4, the Apostle Paul tells us that “love does not envy”. The word that is translated as envy means on a deeper lever to experience the pain and loss of jealousy. Jealousy is hurtful to our lives and absolutely disastrous for the church. So what is the answer to our problem? The Agape love of God is the only power than can enable us to transcend our jealousy and truly care for the well being of others.
