Bible Text: Luke 1:67-80 | Preacher: David Ball | Series: Advent 2018 | Senior Pastor David Ball reminds us here that God’s people thought they had been abandoned because no prophets had spoken to them in 400 years. Then along came Zechariah, an old man, discouraged and unbelieving. So when God actually spoke to him, it’s no wonder he had doubts that he would have a son who would be the prophet of all prophets. Ironically, God prevented Zachariah himself  from sharing this good news brought by Gabriel and struck Zachariah mute, until his son john the Baptist was born when Zachariah bursts out with the beautiful prophecy reported in today’s Gospel.
